چکیده

Cole, A. P., and Hargreaves, T. (1972). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 47, 415. Conjugation inhibitors and early neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia. Milk and serum were obtained from 50 mothers on the 6th day post partum and examined for inhibitory activity against bilirubin conjugation in rat liver slices. Neonatal serum bilirubin levels were also analysed at this time. There was no relation between the amount of inhibitory substance in breast milk or serum and the degree of neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia. It was observed that inhibitory activity increased in frozen breast milk but not in frozen autoclaved breast milk.

Breast milk bilirubin conjugation inhibitors in neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia.

Sir, We were interested to read the observations of Cole and Hargreaves (1972) on Conjugation Inhibitors and Early Neonatal Hyperbilirubinaemia. We, also, were unable to find a correlation between the serum bilirubin concentration in breastfed, 6-day-old infants and conjugation inhibitors in the mother's milk (Arthur, Bevan, and Holton, 1966). However, it would be wrong to conclude that breast ...

Jaundice in low birthweight infants: pathobiology and outcome.

Jaundice in preterm, as well as full term, infants results from (a) an increased bilirubin load in the hepatocyte, (b) decreased hepatic uptake of bilirubin from the plasma, and/or (c) defective bilirubin conjugation. Hyperbilirubinaemia in preterm infants is more prevalent, more severe, and its course more protracted than in term neonates.

Differential risk for early breastfeeding jaundice in a multi-ethnic Asian cohort.

INTRODUCTION To explore the relationship between ethnic origin and mode of feeding with early neonatal jaundice, we examined maternal and neonatal risk factors for hyperbilirubinaemia in a multi-ethnic Asian cohort of healthy term newborns. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is an observational cohort study in a maternity ward serving a multi-ethnic cosmopolitan community. The relationship between hy...

Management of late-preterm and term infants with hyperbilirubinaemia in resource-constrained settings

Hyperbilirubinaemia is a ubiquitous transitional morbidity in the vast majority of newborns and a leading cause of hospitalisation in the first week of life worldwide. While timely and effective phototherapy and exchange transfusion are well proven treatments for severe neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia, inappropriate or ineffective treatment of hyperbilirubinaemia, at secondary and tertiary hospita...

گزارش یک مورد نارسایی حاد کلیه به دنبال مصرف کاپتوپریل در یک کودک مبتلا به سندرم بارتر

Bartter syndrome presenting in neonatal or early infancy is characterized by salt loosing tubulopathy, hypokalemia, and metabolic alkalosis. Failure to thrive is one of the most common findings in neonatal bartter syndrome. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors are one of the therapeutic options for improving growth in these patients. We describe a case of neonatal bartter syndrome with mild ...
